Internet is nothing else than a big computer network. It is a computer network which is spread all over the world. We can also say that it is a network of networks. This means that it is a network which connects many other small networks and also individual computer systems.

Internet definition

The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks which is accessible to the general public. It is the largest network which links millions of networks of universities, military, government organization, education and research institution, military, non-profit organizations, industrial and financial organizations, individual systems etc.

Internet uses the standard protocols: Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) for data transmission and exchange over the network. Generally, Internet Service Provider(ISP) provides access to the Internet.
