Information Technology

Information technology (abbreviated as IT) is nothing but technology related with information. I.T. has wide variety of areas that include but are not limited to things such as processes, computer software, information systems, computer hardware, programming languages, and data structures. In short, anything that renders data, information or perceived knowledge in any visual format whatsoever, via any multimedia distribution mechanism, is considered part of the IT domain.

Information technology refers to combination of software and hardware products and services that people use to manage, access, communicate, and share information.

This term first appeared in a article published in the Harvard Business Review in 1958 but roots of IT is too old because it was implemented when humans first started communicating through speaking and picture drawings around 4000 B.C.

Information technology is used in almost every fields like education, science and engineering, business & commerce, medicine, governance, entertainment and more. Some of the emerging and modern fields of information technology are bioinformatics, next generation web technologies, cloud computing etc.
